Every class is viable at the cap and every class has a seat in a raid. Pick the fantasy you want first — the numbers on this server will not punish you for it.
Engineer
Ranged — DamageNew in 5.0
Kanians · Xadaganians
Light leather, portable astral-ship cannons, mechanical assistants and a satchel of chemical and explosive mixtures. The class 5.0 shipped with, and still the strangest thing on any battlefield in Sarnaut.
Players who want the newest toy in the oldest era.
Warrior
Melee — Tank or Damage
Kanians · Gibberlings · Xadaganians · Orcs
Heavy armour, a short temper and the shortest distance between you and the problem. Warriors hold a line or break one, depending on how the talent grid is spent.
Players who want to read a fight from inside it.
Paladin
Melee — Tank / Support
Kanians · Elves · Xadaganians · Orcs
The anchor of a group: mitigation, protective blessings and enough damage to be worth the slot. Slower to master than a Warrior, harder to remove once mastered.
Players who like being the reason the raid survived.
Scout
Ranged — Burst / Stealth
Kanians · Gibberlings · Xadaganians · Orcs
Openers from the dark, traps on the approach and a bow that answers questions from a very long way away. Punishing to play badly, decisive when played well.
Players who want to choose when the fight starts.
Mage
Ranged — Burst Damage
Kanians · Elves · Arisen
Fire, frost and lightning stacked into windows where everything lands at once. Enormous damage, paper-thin margins, no patience for standing in the wrong place.
Players who like a big number and a short cast bar.
Psionicist
Ranged — Control / Damage
Gibberlings · Xadaganians · Arisen
Mind magic: charms, illusions, and damage that arrives with a debuff attached. The class most likely to decide a small-scale PvP fight before it properly begins.
Players who would rather outplay than out-gear.
Summoner
Ranged — DoT / Off-healer
Elves · Xadaganians · Arisen · Kanians (5.0.02)
Plagues, curses and undead servants, with a twist the tooltip undersells: the life a Summoner drains flows back out as healing. Top damage one evening, main healer the next — and the resurrection spell is yours either way.
Players who enjoy setting things in motion.
Healer
Support — Healing
Kanians · Elves · Xadaganians · Arisen
Light magic and, by level 30, full plate. Keeps a group upright under pressure with enough holy offence to solo comfortably — never waits for a group, always welcome, quietly the most powerful seat in the raid.
Nature magic, a companion and the ability to change job mid-fight. Wardens fill whatever hole a group has, which makes them the most forgiving class to start on.
Players who have not decided yet — and want to keep it that way.
Bard
Support — Buffs / Damage
Kanians · Elves · Xadaganians · Orcs
Songs that hold a group together and songs that take an enemy apart. Support first, but a properly built Bard hits hard enough that nobody calls it a passenger.
Players who want to shape a fight without being the one tanking it.
The race lists above are the real 5.0 matrix — the Engineer was humans-only at launch, and the Kanian Summoner and Xadaganian Warden only arrived with sub-patch 5.0.02. Undecided? Ask in #new-players on the Discord — it answers fast.
Factions
There is no neutral ground in the Astral.
Your faction decides your capital, your storyline, your allies and everyone you will ever be shot at by. Choose with friends — cross-faction play is not a thing, and we are not going to make it one.
The League
Freedom, faith and stubborn optimism
A coalition that holds together because the alternative is worse. The League fights for the right of each of its peoples to remain themselves.
KaniansHumans of a kingdom that has survived every prediction of its collapse.
ElvesAn old people carrying an older grudge, and magic to match it.
GibberlingsThree bodies, one soul, an unreasonable amount of enthusiasm.
The Empire
Order, industry and the will to use it
A war machine that believes survival is engineered, not prayed for. The Empire asks what your loyalty is worth and then spends it well.
XadaganiansHumans forged by a doctrine that leaves very little room for doubt.
OrcsSworn to the Empire, still keeping their own account of who owes whom.
ArisenBrought back from death to serve, and entirely aware of the bargain.
